The Need

A school district in Tucson, Arizona wanted to offer health benefits decision support to employees working across its 20 different schools. The school district sought to eliminate health plan decision inertia—a challenge given that open enrollment took place during one of the busiest times of the academic calendar.

The Solution

MHM provided health benefits decision support to 430 employees (41 percent of enrolled employees) through personalized phone calls and comparative savings reports.  The following year the district partnered with MHM again to pilot newly developed services and further increase employee engagement.

The Benefits

Employees who engaged with MyHealthMath made markedly different plan choices that resulted in significant savings:

migrated into a plan that MyHealthMath indicated as their first or second most optimal
Saved an average $2,320 in total costs
Selected Consumer Driven Health Plans (CDHP) over twice (2.3x) as frequently as non-engaged employees
If previously in a CDHP, increased their average HSA contributions by 111%
