MyHealthMath’s advanced decision-support technology simplifies health insurance planning

(Wellesley, MA & Portland, ME) September 29, 2020 Empowering employees to choose the right health plan matters more this year than ever because of COVID-19’s impact on people’s physical and financial health. In a typical year, approximately only 10 percent of employees change their health plan during Open Enrollment, resulting in significant missed savings.

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is working with MyHealthMath, a health plan decision support system that empowers consumers to act in their own best interest. With this expanded partnership, all Harvard Pilgrim members will be able to take advantage of MyHealthMath’s suite of decision support solutions, designed to help employees choose the most cost-efficient health plan that works best for themselves and their families. A subset of Harvard Pilgrim members have worked with MyHealthMath since 2017 and, on average, saved approximately $1,300 a year when changing plans.

During Open Enrollment, Harvard Pilgrim members can share their specific medical needs and concerns through MyHealthMath’s online platform or a through a phone consultation. Then, they receive individualized reports that identify the plan that can save them the most money. Knowledgeable MyHealthMath representatives provide live support at every step of the process, including helping members submit their information and confidentially answering any questions about the report or changes in expected medical needs.

“MyHealthMath will assist our members in making a vital part of the health care experience—choosing the right plan—easier and more cost-effective,” said Michael Carson, president and CEO of Harvard Pilgrim. “Harvard Pilgrim’s investment in advanced decision support addresses the need to provide our members with personal assistance in picking a health plan that best fits their health care needs.”

“Harvard Pilgrim is empowering their members during a time when health insurance affordability and clarity is of paramount importance,” says MyHealthMath CEO Bob Watterson. “People shouldn’t keep getting stuck with the wrong insurance plan because choosing the right one is too complicated—especially not this year., Harvard Pilgrim is ending that pattern and giving savings, satisfaction, and confidence to consumers.”
